Christ Is King: A Statement Recorded in a Season of Tension

Christ Is King was recorded in 2023, though it wouldn't reach fans for another two years — released in 2025 under Fox Fire Records, the label that would later become FLOCO Music.

The album came together during a period the band has been open about as one of real tension. Acre had already faced censorship pressure from UK distributors over their earlier work, and within their own faith tradition, members of the band voiced growing concern over what they saw as a drift away from traditional teaching under Pope Francis's papacy — disagreements that shaped the conviction behind these songs. Christ Is King was written and recorded in that atmosphere: a band standing firm on what it believed, even as the ground around it felt uncertain.

The album also marks a shift in the band's own internal composition. Where earlier Acre releases reflected a more even balance across Protestant, Orthodox, and Catholic influence within the band, Christ Is King was recorded at a point when the band's makeup had become predominantly Catholic, with a continuing Orthodox influence still present in the music. That shift is audible in the album — a more unified doctrinal voice than the band had carried before.

Recorded in one season and released in another, Christ Is King stands as a document of where Acre was, and what it was standing for, in a moment that demanded clarity.
